Ford in 2010 A New Mustang & Fusion Hybrid
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009Ford has continued to put out new cars when the rest of the American automakers are failing. As long as Ford keeps the F-150 and Mustang as part of their lineup. They will continue to survive. Well now Ford has added another weapon to their arsenal.
The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid will be arriving in dealerships in early spring and will get an average of 41 MPG in town. This outshines the Camry hybrid by 8 mpg, which is the Fusion Hybrids main competitor. But what is really cool about the fusion is the instrument cluster. This will teach the driver how to drive more efficiently. If the driver knows what habits get the best fuel economy he can then use those skills. The gauge cluster has an Efficiency Forest that grows when the car is getting the best gas mileage and dies when the fuel economy numbers are not so great. The Nav System also doubles as the Hybrid Energy Flow Display. This display shows the various hybrid and electric systems at work while driving. The regenerative braking system uses energy generated in the braking process and uses this kinetic energy to charge the battery packs that power the electric engine. The Fusion Hybrid operate in around town driving on electric power alone. It is only when the car reaches the speed of 47 mph that the gas engine kicks in. This means lower emissions and fewer trips to the gas station. The folks at Ford also recycled fibers in order to make the seats!
When Ford released the newly redesigned Mustang based on the fastback modes of the late 60s and early 70s they hit the jackpot. Men who could not afford the Mustang when they were younger jumped at the chance to own one of these new cars. For 2010 the body is unchanged, but the cool news is the possibility of a twin-turbo V-6 power plant called the EcoBoost. Turbo and supercharging is the wave of the future. An engine that has forced induction can make the same amount of power as one that is 2xs the size (displacement wise) while getting better gas mileage and emitting less harmful emissions. Even if the EcoBoost engine does make it into the 2010 line-up, the big V-8 will still be available for those muscle cars heads who think there is no replacement for displacement, only it will grow from 4.6 liters to 5.0 liters. This will spur the 2nd coming of the Boss 302 Mustang Im sure. The base will still keep the efficient V-6 for soccer moms and car rental dealerships. But for those who prefer big V-8 muscle, Ford had decided to enlarge the engine from 4.6 liters to 5.0 liters. One more cool idea Ford that will see its way to the new Mustang is a large glass panel roof which will stretch from the front windshield all the way to the rear of the car. The new 2010 Mustang will have so many variations it will be had to count including; Roush, Saleen, Cobra, GT, and Shelby editions.
