Ford in 2010 A New Mustang & Fusion Hybrid

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Ford has continued to put out new cars when the rest of the American automakers are failing. As long as Ford keeps the F-150 and Mustang as part of their lineup. They will continue to survive. Well now Ford has added another weapon to their arsenal.

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid will be arriving in dealerships in early spring and will get an average of 41 MPG in town. This outshines the Camry hybrid by 8 mpg, which is the Fusion Hybrid’s main competitor. But what is really cool about the fusion is the instrument cluster. This will teach the driver how to drive more efficiently. If the driver knows what habits get the best fuel economy he can then use those skills. The gauge cluster has an “Efficiency Forest” that grows when the car is getting the best gas mileage and dies when the fuel economy numbers are not so great. The Nav System also doubles as the Hybrid Energy Flow Display. This display shows the various hybrid and electric systems at work while driving. The regenerative braking system uses energy generated in the braking process and uses this kinetic energy to charge the battery packs that power the electric engine. The Fusion Hybrid operate in around town driving on electric power alone. It is only when the car reaches the speed of 47 mph that the gas engine kicks in. This means lower emissions and fewer trips to the gas station. The folks at Ford also recycled fibers in order to make the seats!

When Ford released the newly redesigned Mustang based on the fastback modes of the late 60’s and early 70’s they hit the jackpot. Men who could not afford the Mustang when they were younger jumped at the chance to own one of these new cars. For 2010 the body is unchanged, but the cool news is the possibility of a twin-turbo V-6 power plant called the EcoBoost. Turbo and supercharging is the wave of the future. An engine that has forced induction can make the same amount of power as one that is 2x’s the size (displacement wise) while getting better gas mileage and emitting less harmful emissions. Even if the EcoBoost engine does make it into the 2010 line-up, the big V-8 will still be available for those muscle cars heads who think there is “no replacement for displacement,” only it will grow from 4.6 liters to 5.0 liters. This will spur the 2nd coming of the Boss 302 Mustang I’m sure. The base will still keep the efficient V-6 for soccer moms and car rental dealerships. But for those who prefer big V-8 muscle, Ford had decided to enlarge the engine from 4.6 liters to 5.0 liters. One more cool idea Ford that will see its way to the new Mustang is a large glass panel roof which will stretch from the front windshield all the way to the rear of the car. The new 2010 Mustang will have so many variations it will be had to count including; Roush, Saleen, Cobra, GT, and Shelby editions.

Miami Auto Rental Can You Afford to Rent a Limousine in Miami?

Monday, April 13th, 2009

There are many people who visit the city of Miami quite often. Some of them are there for the first time, while others are doing it constantly, mostly because of a certain business. It is well known that the taxi companies are earning a lot on foreigners and tourists just because most of them don’t understand that sometimes renting a car is more affordable. However, for those that have some money to invest in their own pleasure, we recommend renting a comfortable limousine while in Miami.

There are different special and unique ways of traveling around the town, but there is definitely one that will surely make everyone’s heads turn around. If you plan to go to South Beach, you could try hiring a limousine with a private driver. Make a change in your life and enjoy the unique moments while you still can. The amazing weather, the great picturesque landscapes and the lovely golden beaches will definitely make your limo travel something to remember for your entire life. This would probably complement all your activities in Miami, transforming either your business travel or your vacation trip in a real exotic leisure time.

It doesn’t really matter if you are here for work or vacation, or maybe getting married, visiting family or friends, you’re sure to spend your time in extraordinary style and luxury. The main city companies offer a great selection of private comfortable limousines. You can rent such a vehicle for any type of events, including partying, weddings, city tours or any other special occasions you can think of.

In cities like Miami, which are considered great financial and business centers of the entire world, it’s a pity not to take advantage (if you can afford) of the great limo rental that most services provide. All you have to do is just relax and enjoy the trip. The biggest advantage of renting a limousine in a city where car rental services are fighting in a never ending competition is the fact that sometimes it costs just like spending cash on three or four rides per day in an ordinary cab. Isn’t this something?

Finally the Ford Fiesta Hits US Shores

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

Last time the Fiesta was in the US was between 1978 and 1980, before it was replaced by the Escort. Not that long really for a car that has sold successfully in Europe for over thirty years. But things are about to change as Ford rolls out the Fiesta Movement and on the face of it, the response seems to be fairly positive. So does the Fiesta have the potential to become a truly global car?

The “Fiesta Movement” as Ford has branded the project, involves 100 drivers, selected from over 3,300 young drivers’, who will get a European built Fiesta to drive, for free, for six months. In return for the car the “agents” as Ford calls them, will be assigned monthly drives that take them to new places to meet new people and make video diaries of their experiences that will be posted on YouTube and other social media sites. This will hopefully create a buzz in the market demographic that Ford are targeting, so called “millennials” born between 1979 & 1985. A demographic that Ford says “Making up 28% of the driving age population, the potential size of the market serves as an opportunity for Ford to connect with a group that hasn’t yet established brand loyalty and is very connected to the use of technology and social networking”.

Alongside the 100 Fiesta’s earmarked for the Movement, Ford has also brought in a further 40 vehicles for use in marketing and to let journalists test drive. Feedback has so far been positive with many journalists seeming quite surprised at the build quality and the overall performance of the test cars. But why the surprise? The Fiesta is the second best selling car in Europe, it has made its mark where it counts, sales. Since the launch of the seventh generation Fiesta in August 2008, Ford has sold 118,000 units in Europe. Admittedly the North American Fiesta will be assembled in Mexico but it should still be similar to the test cars, cars with a proven track record.

The Fiesta’s being used for the US trial are all five door hatchbacks and at this moment in time it is unlikely that the three door variant will make its way over the pond, there is however a four door saloon being prepared for the 2010 launch. As of yet the exact specification of the US model has not yet been decided by Ford and it could well be influenced by the feedback that comes from their agents. Small changes will also have to be made to comply with American regulations. Engine types and sizes have also yet to be determined, but it would be nice if the clean diesel technology that is so popular in Europe could find its way into at least a couple of models.

So, with the Fiesta also enjoying success in China and Asia, a successful launch and sales pitch in America could make the Fiesta one of the first truly global cars. If this happened Ford could once again become the global player it once was.

Ford Transit Connect Concept: Outside of the Box Thinking

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Ford is rolling out a new concept, the Transit Connect Family One. Will auto show visitors embrace the new car or not? We’ll soon find out!

Ford Transit Connect Concept: Outside of the Box Thinking

When an automaker develops a concept vehicle they do so for a few different reasons among those to set the tone for future design language while attempting to measure public opinion. With the latter, if the customer doesn’t like the vehicle, then it probably won’t get built or at least some of the problems with its design will be identified and corrected.

This month, at the New York International Auto Show, the Ford Motor Company will be unveiling a passenger version of its new to America commercial van-truck, the Transit Connect. Sold for the past several years in Europe and elsewhere, the Transit Connect is being brought to the United States in order to help Ford fill a void in its commercial vehicle line up.

The Transit Connect’s size is also making it an attractive vehicle for the family market, provided that the vehicle can be reworked accordingly. At the auto show, visitors will get a chance to see first hand what the vehicle looks like and make their own determination as to whether they would buy it as shown or not.

According to Mark Fields, Ford’s president of The Americas, the “Transit Connect is a versatile vehicle that can be adapted to a wide variety of applications. The Family One concept delivers fun with function. This fun, cool space is for parents and small children alike, combining fuel efficiency with advanced technologies that can help keep families connected on the go.”

The Family One concept is based on the Transit Connect, a global Ford platform adaptable to a wide variety of applications, both personal and professional. This concept vehicle represents Ford’s first effort in showcasing the versatile Transit Connect for personal use.

Transit Connect has a utilitarian form that offers 135 cubic feet of space on a compact platform, with agile driving dynamics ideally suited to urban driving and tight spaces. The vibrant color scheme and expansive greenhouse area combine to give the Family One concept friendly visual character and a bright, airy interior space.

“For children, the conceptual intent of the vehicle is to be as engaging and entertaining when parked as it is on the go,” added Lee. “The Family One easily transitions from functional family mobility to ‘base camp’ when the coolest mom puts the shift lever into the park position.”

The Transit Connect Family One concept vehicle uses in-dash computer technology to keep a family organized, on-schedule and properly equipped with everything from diaper bags to sporting goods, back packs and homework folders that populate the active family environment.

According to Ford, the Family One concept employs radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to keep track of all the items the active family needs to stay organized. When the driver enters the vehicle with children, the in-dash computer will provide notification that Timmy’s hockey equipment is still in the front hall closet. Using predictive algorithms to “learn” based on past usage, the system will identify missing musical instruments or homework on the way to school and will remind parents if they haven’t packed clubs for a scheduled Saturday golf outing.

The system is designed to be intuitively easy to operate, with minimal menu scrolling and programming. It also plays a role in safety – adding to peace of mind – as the system integrates with sensors to notify the driver if a child seat is improperly attached or tensioned.

Truly, the Ford Transit Connect Family One is a mouthful, not a name that easily rolls off of the tongue. However, if auto show visitors build a connection to the concept

, we could see the concept quickly become a reality for Ford.

Ford Fiesta Anticipation Builds

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

After months of anticipation, the new Ford Fiesta has finally reached the U.S. from Europe as part of the Fiesta Movement program. One hundred forty of Ford’s stylish hatchback arrived in North America just as sales of the car are soaring in Europe. The cars have arrived straight from their Colonge, Germany factory.

The Firsta Movement has already gained momentum
in the U.S. The program will rely on trendsetting applicants to drive
the cars for six months and share their impressions and experiences
online via social media websites, such as YouTube and Facebook. San Diego Ford dealers expect the information to build buzz ahead of the Fiesta’s official launch to U.S. consumers next year.

Although the automaker did not need to receive federal aid, Ford has not had it easy. Month and month losses mount as auto sales have plummeted. But among the bad news, one Wyoming Ford dealer says the latest Fiesta seems to be a game-changer. To the excitement of Chicago Ford
consumers and Ford executives alike, the Fiesta is quickly on its way
to becoming a global success for the automaker that desperately needs a
hit.

Although Ford’s most recent successes have included full-size pickups
and SUVs, the 2010 Ford Fiesta may be a bit small by American
standards, especially considering it was designed specifically for the
European market. That being said, there certainly is demand for small
cars these days

, especially when packaged with the Fiesta’s blend of
style and sportiness according to car shoppers at a Ford dealership in St Louis. Look for the Ford Fiesta to go on sale in early 2010 with a price tag under $15K.
