The interior had more room and the design was restyled. The engine compartment and trunk also became more spacious.

This year, the current design has a classic appearance and a retro flavor inside. The new model is available in either convertible or coupe body styles, V-6 Premium, GT Deluxe, GT Premium, V-6 Deluxe, Shelby GT and GT500 KR. Ford Moves Aggressively for Mainstream Navigation System

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Ford now looks at the latest trend for auto manufacturers of putting navigation system on mainstream cars even as an option.

/>

Among the six Ford 2006 Ford Motor vehicles to offer navigation systems are the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr and Mercury Mountaineer while the other four nameplates are said to be the Ford Explorer and Explorer Sport Trac SUVs, Five Hundred sedan and Freestyle sport wagon.

The idea of popularizing car navigation system on mass produced Ford cars is an attractive feature for most car enthusiasts. Common only in the luxury segment such as the Lincoln Navigator, on which the option costs around $3,000 on the 4×4 Ultimate editions, the car navigation system will soon be more affordable as foreseen by Ford.

This is an aggressive step by Ford to be competitive and sway the family sedan market into its turf. Mainstream vehicles will soon find car navigation system on its option list as hand held global positioning phones and the concept of beaming satellite map data into the vehicles are also being considered by auto makers.

Popularizing car navigation system will better enhance the features of mass produced Ford vehicles and make it more affordable.

1950s Chevrolet Cars versus the 1950s Ford Cars

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

The cars from the 1950s were truly style icons. From the shapes to the engineering, General Motors and Ford crafted innovative designs that are still admired by many. Attend any classic car show and you will see many models from the 1950s. There is something special about these vehicles.

/>

Rivals as American carmakers

Ford and General Motors each had the goal of determining what American consumers wanted in vehicles and trying to be the first company to deliver that product. The philosophy of “I can make that better” became commonplace among carmakers. The American consumer benefited from the intense competition between the two automobile giants. Pricing was affordable while style was high. Chevrolet Cars Pictures along with their Ford counterparts were seen in print ads in newspapers and magazines.

Chevrolet Bel Air

The early 1950s saw the automakers looking at retooling old ideas. Chevrolet came out with one of the first affordable hardtop convertibles in 1950; the model was called Bel Air. They set out to improve upon the old soft-top cars that were just not feasible in rain or winter weather. GM created a hybrid style that provided the convertible experience when opened up, but also gave the comfort and protection needed against the weather when closed. Chevrolet Cars Images, particularly the Bel Air, were seen everywhere. In 1950, 74,634 Bel Airs were sold and Chevrolet regained its position over Ford as market leader.

Ford’s response to Bel Air: Crown Victoria

The following year Ford unveiled the Custom Victoria. It outsold the Bel Air in 1951 by 7,000 units. The engineering of the Custom Victoria include an innovative pillarless superstructure. Ford car pics of this model show superbly clean lines. This combined with a posh interior and good performance with a flathead V-8 propelled this model to eclipse the Chevrolet Bel Air.

Ford’s Ranchero

Ford beat Chevrolet in the rollout of the Ranchero model. Considered a “crossover”, the Ranchero appealed equally to car and truck drivers. It displayed utility features while offering comfort ability. Old Ford Car Pictures of the Ranchero was a two-door wagon with the rear section of the roof taken off and a bedliner placed in the floor plan.

Chevy’s reaction: El Camino

GM’s counterpart to Ford’s Ranchero was the El Camino. Among Vintage Chevrolet cars, the El Camino is very unique in appearance. Using an integrated pickup box, a sedan was morphed into a pickup.

Looking for a good and stable engine for your car? Ford Motors and GMC Engines are just the ones for you

Friday, November 13th, 2009

With the financial crisis our world is in, living in a prudent manner has become more of a requirement than a choice. Unfortunately, because a car is a necessity for most American families auto expenses are also affected by this economic situation. Some of us when faced with car problems do the only thing we know and that is to replace the said malfunctioning part with a new one and viola problem solved. What if like so many families in the US you have Honda, GMC engines or Ford motors that are 7 years or older? Will that one part mean freedom from engine problems for at least 3 months? In my experience chances are you’ll be hearing something totally different from your mechanic. His parting words in reference to these Japanese Mitsubishi engines or American GMC engines would be “I have replaced part X however part Y and part Z will also need replacing very soon. If you do not replace parts Y and Z within 2 months parts A, B and C will no longer function properly.”  Do those words sound familiar? Have they caused you sleepless nights and true to form 2 months later removed a large chunk of money from your savings account?

Due to the misconception most people have a used car engine is not a viable option because of low quality. It would probably not occur to average car owners to look into buying used American Ford motors or GMC engines. Research online and discover the results that you will find about used car engines; you may be pleasantly surprised at the results. Would you have guessed that a company who sells used Ford motors, GMC engines, Japanese and European used car engines is in fact ISO certified? Or that a used engine dealership could win awards for its quality from respected organizations? The used car engine has been able to achieve success for finding a niche in the auto parts business. Getting the word out there that used car engines will give you a long term solution for a less price of replacing multiple single parts.

Let us revisit the scenario above. Has it ever happened to you because it has to me?  5 years ago the parts of my 7 year old Ford motors started to die one after the other. The thought of replacing the engine with a used overhauled one was ridiculous to me. Why would I replace an old engine with an engine whose make was equally as old? The irritating thing was my husband suggested it. He quoted a price of around 600 odd dollars for the whole engine assembly and I dug my heels in and said no. So on the 1st year anniversary of that decision and $900 later I now know I should have listened, done my research and decided without prejudice. In my defense though the used car engine business was not explained to me so ignorance cost me more than $300 and a lot of time and effort. If I had given my consent to the purchase of the used and overhauled Ford motors then it would have gone through stringent quality assurance processes backed up with at least a 90 day and at most a 1 year warranty.  I was not aware that the used Ford motors I was going to buy would be leak down tested and examined from all angles. Some even offer extended warranties for purchase on many used engines.

This experience has taught me not to lean too heavily on preconceptions that tend to be misconceptions.

One should always gather credible data to make a better informed decision. While this is only one scenario that proves purchasing a used car engine there are many more out there. No matter what kind of engine it is, whether it is American GMC engines or Japanese Honda engines it is more than likely a better choice overall to consider choosing a used car engine.

Looking forward to have a “racing DNA” in you care? Get hold of Ford and Chrysler Engines

Friday, November 13th, 2009

The used car engine industry has been judged harshly and albeit unfairly for years. The stigma of selling anything used has stuck to this business and any headway that some companies have achieved in the past decade has been overshadowed by our prejudice against anything that is not brand new. I’m not saying that some comments or feedback are not true or does not have basis. I am simply saying that we are not assessing the business fairly as a whole.

It may come as a shock, but many foreign and American cars on the street have parts like Chrysler engines, Ford engines, and transmissions whose owners have joined the many converts in patronizing used car engines.

Used Chrysler engine and Ford engines have a reputation of being dependable and well made machines. Bearing that in mind why would anyone wish to downgrade this well earned reputation by using substandard parts. That is where the wrong assumptions have been made for the past couple of years.

The image we have in mind when we think of used car parts would be of the clichéd mechanic in some backward Hollywood movie that digs up almost non-working rusty parts from old cars in his backyard lot. That imagery is nowhere near where the used car parts industry is today.

When one sees an ad about a used Toyota, Honda, Ford engines or Chrysler engine do we really think about what the reality is?  Used or overhauled engines are not just taken from an old car and placed into another one. Overhauled engines go through a process that enables the company that sells it to confidently offer warranties. And it may surprise you but some warranties are up to 1 year. That means a lot of attention to detail and high quality work goes into that used car engine for the company to back it with that kind of a warranty.

Used Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford engines or Chrysler engines that are overhauled or rebuilt are disassembled, scrutinized, cleaned, and faulty parts are replaced or repaired. It is also updated to current manufacturing standards.  This process is labor intensive but it benefits the end user. If a person has a relatively old car maybe more than 6 years old and a part breaks down what is the probability that in 1 to 2 months another part will cause another engine problem? You will I guarantee, end up replacing more and more parts within that year. If you sum it all up you could have saved more money with a rebuilt engine because in a rebuilt engine all parts are analyzed and fixed if needed that is why they are confident when giving a warranty. If we keep replacing just specific parts the overall health of all parts are not seen and may lead to more damage. Situations may differ of course but I went through the one part at a time process with my Honda civic hatchback. If I had a chance for a do over, I would have just bought a used/rebuilt engine upfront and saved myself time, money and effort.

So if you have a Ford engines or Chrysler engine whose parts are starting to breakdown, do a little research and look for a used car engine dealer in your area. You might just become one of the many used car engine converts!

Spotlight on the 2010 Ford Mustang

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

One of the most classic and loved cars in all of American history is no doubt the Ford Mustang. Its classic muscle car power and sleek lines have captured the hearts of car lovers for decades. Since its initial release in 1964, Ford knew they had a legend on their hands. Through the years, the Mustang has undergone many design changes but it has held its place on the list of classic American cars.

The Mustang has been in constant production since 1964 but has had many different looks. In 1974, the second generation Mustang was introduced to cope with more strict pollution laws. The Mustang had another overhaul in 1979 and again in 1994. The Mustang released in 1994 was the first major redesign this model had seen. This model had more modern, aerodynamic lines that strayed a bit from its classic muscle car days.

In 2005, Ford introduced another new, completely redesigned Mustang. This model was more reminiscent of its classic muscle car look with boxy, powerful lines. When this new design was unveiled, interest in this classic car peaked. In the times of hybrids and SUV’s, the new Mustang was a sigh of relief for car lovers everywhere. The 2010 redesign of the Mustang was no different and lived up to this car’s legendary status.

The new 2010 Mustang has kept its boxy, muscle car look but has improved the not-so-noticeable features. The first upgrade the new Mustang received was its interior. The 2010 model has more metallic features, including round dials on the dashboard and an optional Ford/Microsoft Sync system. The exterior got a slight facelift and bears a proud resemblance to the 1969 Mustang. It has a cool four-light grille, beveled bumpers on the front and back and a huge hood scoop.

Underneath the hood, there are some obvious improvements as well. The Mustang runs a cold-air system which trims its 0-60 times, but has not increased its power too much. The previous models had about 300 horsepower and the new 2010 model boasts about 315 horsepower. They have increased the car’s redline however, which has gone from 6250 to 6500rpm. The new Mustang also comes with a stiffer suspension and its standard 18-inch tires have increased its handling.

One of the cooler observations that Car and Driver made about the new Mustang is how it manages to be both quiet and loud at the same time. If you don’t rev the engine, road and wind noise is minimal making for a peaceful ride. However, if you feel the need for speed and rev up your V-8 engine, you can hear the power in surround sound, so to speak. Ford has introduced what is called a “sound induction tube” that connects the intake to the cabin of the car. This tube transmits only certain frequencies while restricting air flow – that’s pretty high-tech!

Another great thing about the new Mustang is the fact that even though Ford has made some improvements, they haven’t increased the price much. A base model V-6 Mustang will go for just under $22,000 while a GT will cost you just under $29,000. Gas mileage isn’t too bad either for a sporty ride. It will get you about 15mpg city and 23 highway. Not exactly a “green” car, but not too bad for a car that can give you a powerful, fun, legendary ride. All in all, the new Mustang has gotten great reviews and you can be sure that new customers and loyal Mustang owners alike will be lining up for the new 2010 pony.
